CURATION AND CONSERVATION: FASHION, DRESS AND TEXTILES IN MUSEUMS

On 21-22 October 2021, the Centre will host the conference on ‘Curation and Conservation: Dress and Textiles in Museums’, an international conference in partnership with the Association of Dress Historians in London.

The Association of Dress Historians is a non-profit organisation that supports and promotes studies, research and activities on the history of fashion, textiles and accessories from every culture, region of the world, from antiquity to the present day, through meetings, major conferences and publications.

TICKETS AND INFORMATION

Tickets include participation in the two days of the conference and the presentation of the selected posters,* a simultaneous Italian/English and English/Italian translation service will be available and it will be possible to access exclusive digital content reserved for members that include:

  • the full programme,
  • the digital version of the selected posters
  • links to pre-recorded side events

In addition, there will be the opportunity to participate in a welcome event, organized for Wednesday 20 October It will end with one guided tour of the Centre's restoration workshops.

After purchasing the ticket you will be contacted by our staff who will ask how you want to follow the conference (online or in person). The ticket has the same price to allow participation even in case of impossibility to travel.

PRESENT PARTICIPATION IN THE CONFERENCE IS PERMITTED ONLY IF IN POSSESSION OF GREEN PASS

ADDITIONAL USEFUL INFORMATION

rhombuses  If you have purchased the ticket for the conference you will receive the Link to Padlet and the Link to the Zoom Webinar This will be sent to you via an Eventbrite notification.

rhombuses  If you attend in person, the registration will include the exclusive events, i coffee breaks e the aperitifs.

rhombuses  The Padlet link you received immediately after purchasing your ticket will provide:

  • Access to posters and videos of the event (up to three months after the conference)
  • The full conference programme with abstracts and biographies (content to be uploaded from 11 October)
    Any additional changes to the program will be noted on Padlet: Keep an eye on updates!
  • Information on places to stay and visit, including exclusive conference events
  • Reservations for a visit to the JRC laboratories
  • How to register interest in a shuttle bus service between Turin and Venaria
  • For those who will come to the Center there is a small supplement for catering of 15 euros / day. Payment options will be provided later only to those attending the conference in person
  • In response to your feedback, the JRC tour booking padlet links will soon be updated with timetables. Each tour can accommodate up to 15 people
  • A new update on Padlet concerns the exclusive visit of the fashion collection the Palazzo Madama Turin in Turin on Saturday 23rd – please fill in the google form if you are interested in this event

In view of the uncertainty caused by the current pandemic situation, in particular with regard to the organisation of travel and accommodation, the following arrangements have been made:
all tickets purchased will also guarantee access to the online conference.

If you buy the ticket after the 3rd of October and would like to participate in person, please write to us at adhconference2021@centrorestaurovenaria.it to inform us directly because you will not be contacted by the staff.

Attendees attending the conference will receive further information regarding transfers from Turin to Venaria, catering and the official conference dinner. (Please note that there may be small additional catering and dinner costs that will still be treated separately from the ticket purchase)

For those wishing to plan trips and accommodation together with the purchase of the conference ticket, information on the partner hotels and information on how to reach Turin and Venaria and for sightseeing in the surrounding area will be provided together with the purchase.

The Association of Dress Historians and the ‘La Venaria Reale’ Conservation and Restoration Centre recommend making reservations that can be cancelled or refunded in the event of cancellations in compliance with anti-COVID-19 rules.

All participants are personally responsible for checking against COVID-19 restrictions in the context of round-trip international travel.
